Jammu and Kashmir is all set to go for the assembly from mid September and amidst the poll preparedness, there has been a massive political happening ahead following the formal announcement by the Election Commission of India. Many leaders have been switching to other parties while some are indecisive about their future course of action. Amidst such a situation, the political parties have started to make the election manifesto public with National Conference (NC) taking a lead by making 12 promises with the people ahead of the polls. In the 12 promises, the party has once again claimed to ensure better electricity and water to the people, besides claiming to ensure no charges for 200 units of electricity if voted to power. The promises done with the people with regard to the electricity have never been fulfilled though, but the announcement at this juncture plays a key role as the people from different parts of the corner have been protesting against the surprising hike in the electricity bills. The people, who are set to vote for their candidates in the three-phased elections, are expecting favourable measures and steps with regard to the hefty electricity bills and thus want the new elected government to take steps in the right direction to end the sufferings of the consumers here. In such a situation, the political parties are working hard to appease the people with their promises related to electricity. Since only NC has made the manifesto public, it would be interesting to see the promises related to power by the other political parties.
