Kishtwar, Aug 20: The District Election Officer (DEO) Kishtwar, Rajesh Kumar Shavan Tuesday chaired a meeting with key officers to assess the district’s preparedness for the smooth, free, fair, and transparent conduct of the upcoming Jammu & Kashmir Assembly Election 2024.
The meeting was attended by SSP Abdul Qayoom; ADDC /Nodal Officer Model Code of Conduct (MCC), Ghulam Rasool; RO AC 49-Kishtwar(ADC), Pawan Kotwal; RO 48-Inderwal(Dy. DEO), Idrees Lone, RO 50-Nagseni Paddar(SDM Paddar), Amit Kumar; SDM Marwah Mohammad Ashraf; DIO Shafkat Keen; Election NT, Angrez Singh Jasrotia, along with other officers and officials from the Election Cell.
The DEO conducted an in-depth review of various aspects crucial to the election process, including Training Management, Law and Order enforcement, the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) campaign, EVM Management and the functioning of different committees, control rooms and surveillance teams. The discussion also covered the operations of the Election Expenditure Monitoring Committee and Media Monitoring Committees, enforcement of the Model Code of Conduct, Ballot Paper Management, Computerization and Cyber Security plans, Traffic Management Plans, Communication Plans, and ensuring Assured Minimum Facility (AMF) at all polling stations.
The DEO issued specific instructions to the concerned Nodal officers, directing them to ensure that all logistics and other arrangements are completed within the stipulated time.
Speaking at the meeting, the SSP provided a comprehensive update on the security plan chalked out to ensure smooth conduct of the Assembly elections in the district. He outlined the constituency-wise deployment of security personnel and emphasized the need for a foolproof and comprehensive communication plan.
The DEO also emphasized the importance of verifying the polling station list on the District Website and ensuring that I-Cards are issued to all members of the Election Management team. He further reviewed the manpower management plan for the elections, including the lodging and boarding arrangements for polling staff and security personnel. He instructed the concerned EROs and AEROs to ensure that the intermediate strong rooms are fully prepared at all designated locations within a week to facilitate the hassle-free and smooth conduct of the Assembly elections.
The DEO Kishtwar urged officers and stakeholders to work in close coordination and to ensure that the upcoming Assembly Elections are conducted with the highest level of efficiency and success.
