Srinagar, Aug 26: District Development Council (DDC) Chairperson Shopian along with DDC member Harmain Monday resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and extended their support to former MLA Wachi Aijaz Ahmad Mir.
DDC Chairperson Shopian Bilquees Bano said that she has resigned from the party and will support Aijaz Ahmad Mir, who is scheduled to contest elections as an Independent candidate from Wachi (now Zainapora) constituency.
DDC member Harmain, Abdul Rashid Lone said that he is resigning from basic membership of PDP and will support Aijaz Mir.
Lone said that they can’t expect anything from the party that has not done justice with Aijaz Ahmad Mir, who has worked day and night for the betterment of the party.
Notably, Aijaz Mir resigned from PDP last week and would likely contest the assembly polls as an independent candidate. He is expected to file his nominations paper tomorrow.
