DC Bandipora chairs NCORD meeting

Bandipora, Aug 29: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Manzoor Ahmad Qadri Thursday chaired a meeting of the District Level Committee under the Narco Coordination NCORD mechanism to review the measures in place to combat drug abuse in the district.
During the meeting, the DC was briefed regarding the Action Taken Report of various departments and measures currently being undertaken within the district.
Speaking on the occasion, the DC emphasized the importance of a united effort in addressing this serious challenge and called for enhanced collaboration among all stakeholders to implement effective solutions.
He also reviewed the functioning of the Addiction Treatment Facility and Drug De-addiction Centre.
Qadri emphasised the importance of awareness campaigns targeting vulnerable groups and stressed that educating vulnerable groups about the dangers of drug abuse and available support services is crucial for effective prevention and intervention.
In addition, DC underscored the need for a robust awareness campaign focusing on the religious, social, and economic implications of drug abuse and emphasised the role of religious leaders and educational institutions in conveying the message of ill effects of drug abuse.
The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Zaffar Husson Shawal, ACD Irfan Bahadur, DySP DAR Ahmad Shafee, CMO, DSWO, ARTO, DIO and other concerned.
