Srinagar, Sep 9: An early morning blaze in the Noor Bagh area of Srinagar has left three families homeless, their lives upended by the destruction.
While no lives were lost, the emotional toll on the victims is profound.
The survivors recounted the terrifying moments when the fire broke out as the neighborhood was just waking up. Within moments, the flames consumed three homes, leaving little behind.
Nusrat Jan, one of the survivors, described the harrowing experience: “We had just started our day when the fire broke out. There was no time to think. All I could do was grab my children and run to save our lives. We left with nothing but the name of Allah on our lips. Everything—our food, clothes, and memories—are gone,” she said, tears streaming down her face.
Jalal Ud Din, another victim, recalled how the fire quickly spread from a small room to the entire house: “We were helpless, watching everything burn,” he said as he stared at the charred remains of his home. “We have nothing now. No belongings, no home—nothing.”
When asked about any relief or assistance, the victims said officials had visited the site, but so far, no help had been provided.
Earlier reports stated that the fire broke out around 7 AM, severely damaging three residential houses. Fortunately, it was contained before spreading to neighboring homes.
No casualties or injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
