As the first phase of assembly elections culminated with a total voter turnout of 59 percent, the stage is set for the massive rallies in Jammu and Kashmir summer capital, Srinagar where the Prime Minister Narendra Modi is going to address his maiden rally for the General Elections to the Legislative Assembly today. A large gathering is expected at the Sher-e-Kashmir Cricket Stadium here where the Prime Minister is going to address the people ahead of the second phase of the polls. Srinagar is among the 26 Assembly Constituencies going to polls in the second phase of elections on September 25, 2024. Besides the Prime Minister, many other national leaders are set to address the gatherings at different places in the next few days here, to attract the voters ahead of the elections. Tough competition is expected at all the eight Assembly Constituencies of Srinagar and the rallies being addressed by the national leaders will play a key role in wooing the voters. Besides, the imitative of Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) is playing a major role in creating awareness among the masses about the importance of voting, which would simultaneously help in increasing the voting percentage in the ongoing assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir. Like southern districts of Kashmir, Srinagar too is expected to witness a massive voter turnout as the people including elderly, youth, men and women are enthusiastic with regard to the assembly elections and are participating in the events and rallies programmes with zeal and zest.
