Srinagar, Sep 19: In a decisive move to combat the drug menace, Jammu and Kashmir Police in Ganderbal has taken significant action against cannabis cultivation.
Following reliable intelligence, a special police team, led by the SHO Police Station Ganderbal, conducted an operation at Pati Shalbugh Gasi Mohla, where cannabis (Bhang) spread on approximately 12.5 Kanals was discovered, a police spokesman said in a statement.
During the operation, Cannabis (Bhang) cultivated on land belonging to 06 accused persons was destroyed in presence of First Class Magistrate Tulamulla, police said.
The said six accused persons have been identified as Ab Khaliq, Ab Hamid, Ab Aziz, Mohd Sadiq, Muzaffar Ahmad, and Ashiq Ahmad all residents of Pati Shalbugh.
In this regard, police said that cases under relevant sections of law were registered at Police Station Ganderbal & further investigation has been taken up.
General Public has applauded the swift action taken by J&K Police against the culprits & in eradicating drug menace from the society.
Meanwhile, Police urged general public to co-operate with J&K Police and share information of such land owners, so that roots of drugs can be eliminated. (KNO)
