The establishment of 157 special polling stations in the second phase of ongoing Assembly Elections in Jammu and Kashmir has not only attracted the voters but also played a role of welcoming the electorates in the Union Territory. The decoir booths, fundamental to the entire election process, play a significant role in making the festival of democracy a success. These innovative polling stations, such as women-managed, youth-managed, Green Polling Stations, Model Polling Stations, Border and Unique Polling Stations, were designed to cater specifically to women, youth, Persons with Disabilities (PwDs), promote eco-friendly practices, ensure inclusive and accessible elections, and accommodate voters of different kinds in the region. Furthermore, the ECI’s commitment towards environmental sustainability is demonstrated through the implementation of green practices at these polling stations. Every aspect is meticulously designed to minimize environmental impact and promote a greener future. The establishment of these unique polling stations underscores the unwavering dedication towards fostering inclusivity and sustainability in the electoral process. Every citizen should have equal access to exercise their democratic right, and these polling stations represent a significant step toward achieving that goal. In this regard, the special polling booths established by the poll body in both first and second phases have played a key role in spreading the word for the wellbeing of the environment and also towards helping and assisting the differently-abled people and also towards the respect of womenfolk in the society.
