Srinagar, Oct 8: Police in Pulwama have arrested two drug peddlers and recovered psychotropic/contraband substances & cash from their possession.
A Police party of PS Pulwama at a checkpoint established at Drusoo Pulwama arrested a drug peddler identified as Umer Hassan Yatoo son of Gh Hassan Yatoo resident of Drusoo Pulwama. During search, 22 bottles of Codeine Phosphate (KAIMODIN-T) and cash amount of Rs 10,800 were recovered from his possession. During initial enquiry, it surfaces that the accused was involved in selling Codeine Phosphate at high rates to encourage drug addiction among the youth.
Meanwhile, a Police party of PS Litter, during Naka checking, arrested a notorious drug peddler identified as Aqib Khursheed Dangroo @Junaid son of Khursheed Ahmad Dangroo resident of Zasoo. During search, Brown Sugar was recovered from his possession.
Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations and investigations have been initiated.
J&K Police urge the common masses that if you witness drug peddling or any other crime anywhere near you, feel free to contact nearest police establishment or dial 112. People are requested to cooperate with police in curbing the menace of drugs from the society.
