Srinagar, Oct 9: Khyber Cement, the leading brand from Jammu & Kashmir, has collaborated with The Bureau of India Standards (BIS) to flag off a Bike Rally to commemorate World Standards Day 2024. The rally will conclude in the heroic Siachen Base Camp with 16 riders taking part in it. Khyber Cement’s support for this event marks a significant step in the company’s ongoing efforts to contribute to the welfare of Kashmir beyond business through such meaningful initiatives.
The 10-day rally, themed ‘Driving Sustainability through Standards’ was flagged off on October 9th at Nehru Park in Srinagar, with riders travelling through challenging terrain to raise awareness about the role of standards in promoting sustainability. This initiative also promotes organizational sustainability by implementing proactive oversight measures that enhance transparency and ethical practices.
Speaking about the initiative, Umar Tramboo, Director of Corporate & Strategy emphasised the importance of such collaborations, stating, “For us at Khyber Cement, sustainability transcends not just corporate responsibility, but it also represents our dedication to safeguarding the future for generations to come. Our partnership with BIS for this rally is a part of our constant efforts to drive positive change in the region, from supporting environmental causes to ensuring transparency in all our business practices.”
Manzoor Ahmad Mir, the Head of Commercials, Legal & Regulatory Affairs said, “Khyber Cement proudly joins hands with the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) to celebrate World Standards Day 2024, reinforcing our commitment to quality and excellence in construction. As a sponsor of the bike rally, we stand united in promoting industry standards for a safer and stronger tomorrow.”
Sneh Lata, Dy Director General North of BIS added, “This initiative of a bike rally to Siachen Base Camp at Ladakh represents our mission to reach new horizons. By upholding standards, we drive innovation and build trust, ensuring that our products and services meet the highest benchmarks. I extend my best wishes to the team for a successful and fulfilling journey.”
Khyber Cement, the leading cement manufacturer in the region, has long been committed to aligning its business practices with the broader goal of environmental responsibility and community development. By collaborating with the Bureau of Indian Standards for this initiative, the organization has once again demonstrated its commitment to fostering positive change in Jammu & Kashmir, in line with its ‘Dil Se Banao’ philosophy. This collaboration is part of the company’s wider efforts, which focus on supporting events and programs that promote social, environmental, and economic sustainability for the betterment of Kashmiris. As the riders now continue their journey to the Siachen Base Camp, this event stands as a powerful reminder of the impact that businesses can have when they align with global goals such as sustainability.
