DC Bandipora reviews progress of Ring Road Phase-II project in Sumbal

Bandipora, Oct 11: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Manzoor Ahmad Qadri, accompanied by Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Shabir Ahmad Wani, and SDM Sumbal Murtaza Ahmad Sheikh on Friday visited the Ring Road Phase II project sites to assess its progress.
The inspection focused on a 7-kilometer stretch from Sumbal Bridge to Sarai Dangerpora, critical for enhancing connectivity for the prestigious ring road project.
During the visit, the Project Director NHAI, Srinagar, briefed the Deputy Commissioner on the ongoing works and status of progress.
The DC emphasized the importance of facilitating the project’s swift execution and directed the social forestry department to clear trees along the road embankments besides instructed the SDM and Tehsildar Sumbal to facilitate NHAI with the relocation of utilities.
He urged the executing agency to expedite the work to ensure timely completion of the project.
It was informed that, approximately Rs. 46 crore has been disbursed to local landowners as part of the compensation and pending 32 cases shall be taken on case to case basis.
During the inspection, the DC said that Ring Road project is vital for improving connectivity and enhancing infrastructure, and urged all stakeholders to work collaboratively to overcome any challenges and ensure the project progresses smoothly besides adhering to project completion time line.
Among others, Tehsildar Sumbal, officers from R&B and representatives from Almondz Consultancy and RRPL company besides other concerned were present.
In addition to the Ring Road inspection, the DC also visited the under-construction hospital building at S. K Bala and directed the Chief Medical Officer and concerned executing agency to prioritize and complete the remaining work to make the facility operational.
