Srinagar, Oct 12: The Jammu and Kashmir government has reconstituted the J&K Medical Council and appointed a new six-member team.
According to a notification from the Health and Medical Education Department, Dr Shahzada Mohammad Salim Khan, a Professor of Community Medicine at GMC Srinagar, will serve as the president of the reconstituted council.
The notification, S.O. 508, states, “In exercise of powers conferred by Section 98 of the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganization Act, 2019, and in partial modification of notification S.O. 362 of 2021 dated 20.10.2021, the Lieutenant Governor hereby directs that the table appended to the said notification shall be substituted.”
The new council members include Dr Vishal R. Tandon, Professor of Pharmacology, GMC Jammu; Dr Mehnaz Sultan Khuroo, Professor of Pathology, GMC Srinagar; Dr Sandeep Dogra, Professor of Microbiology, GMC Jammu; Dr Asifa Nazir, Associate Professor of Microbiology, GMC Srinagar; and Dr Jyoti Joly, Chief Medical Officer (I/C Divisional Nutrition Officer, Jammu)
The previous council consisted of four members: Dr Saleem Ul Rehman, Dr Iqbal Sofi, Dr Rajeshwar Sharma and Dr Chanderlekha. (KNO)
