Srinagar, Nov 1: Residents and commuters have voiced serious concerns over the deteriorated condition of the main road from Qamarwari—Mandi stretch in Parimpora, where numerous potholes and patches have turned the route into a daily hazard for drivers and pedestrians.
The locals from the area and pedestrians alike said that the Qamarwari to Parimpora Mandi road is pivotal and a busy one too. It connects Srinagar city with Parimpora and needs urgent attention from authority, as potholes have made it very dangerous, they said.
A scooty rider expressed his frustration, saying, “The potholes and patches make it nearly impossible to ride safely.”
He said this road is busy with traffic all the day and if these potholes were not filled immediately, there is every possibility of a major accident.
Another resident, who frequently commutes on this stretch, added that “every day, I see people struggling to avoid these potholes, swerving dangerously close to oncoming traffic. It has become a nightmare for us, and we are worried that someone could get seriously hurt if nothing is done soon.”
Pertinently, locals report that these road conditions not only slow down traffic but also increase the risk of accidents, particularly for two-wheeler riders.
Many residents are now calling for urgent action from authorities to address the road’s condition, saying the delays in repairs could lead to severe accidents and injuries.
When contacted, an official said that they have taken the matter into their notice and will try to fill the patches soon.
