Srinagar, Nov 4: As the PDP MLA from Pulwama Wahed ur Reham Para move to submit resolution seeking restoration of Article 370 on the first day of J&K Legislative Assembly, PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti expressed gratitude to the legislators for supporting the party move.
Mehbooba expressed her gratitude to Sajad Lone, Independent MLA Shabir Kullay, and AIP’s Sheikh Khurshid for their solidarity in opposing the abrogation of Article 370, which granted special status to Jammu and Kashmir.
“Your support in this resolution underscores the ongoing political and humanitarian concerns within Jammu and Kashmir, reflecting the broader sentiment of many who view the revocation of Article 370 as a significant alteration to our autonomy and identity,” Mufti wrote on X.
Highlighting the importance of this support, Mufti noted that the alliance of political leaders across the spectrum reflects a shared sentiment among the people of Jammu and Kashmir regarding the central government’s decision to revoke Article 370.
PDP president said that this collective opposition was beyond mere legal ramifications, and was touching on the moral and humanitarian concerns that many in the region feel deeply about.
Mufti in the post stressed on the importance of continued advocacy for the people of Jammu and Kashmir, asserting that it was essential for their voices to be heard and their concerns
“As we move forward, it’s essential to keep advocating for the rights and voices of the people of Jammu and Kashmir, ensuring that their concerns are heard and addressed,” she added.
In another post on X, Mufti expressed strong support for the resolution. In a post shared on social media handle X, Mufti praised Waheed Parra for his determination, adding, “Proud of Waheed Parra for introducing the resolution in JK Assembly opposing the revocation of Article 370 and resolve to restore the special status. God bless you.”
Meanwhile, reacting to the move, National Conference (NC) said that a PDP MLA made half an attempt to circumvent the government’s move to introduce resolution against abrogation of Article 370 in the assembly.
In a post on X, NC said that it expects everyone to support the resolution rather than playing to the gallery.
The party was reacting to PDP MLA Waheed Para’s resolution that he moved against abrogation of Article 370 on the first day of assembly session in Srinagar today.
“It was too clever by half an attempt by a PDP MLA, clearly aimed at circumventing a government move to introduce resolution… We expect everyone to support the resolution rather than playing to the gallery and weakening the collective resolve of those who sincerely want reclaiming of our constitutional rights, protection of dignity and identity,” NC said.
