Kupwara, Nov 9: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kupwara, Ayushi Sudan Saturday convened a meeting of concerned officers to discuss the implementation of the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana in the district.
This initiative aligns with India’s vision for sustainable energy development by promoting local adoption of solar power and providing free electricity to households through solar energy solutions.
On the occasion, the DC emphasized the need for robust implementation of the scheme at the grassroots level, directing stakeholders to mobilize resources, coordinate with approved vendors, and actively engage local Panchayats to drive community awareness and encourage widespread adoption of solar energy solutions.
The DC directed the concerned officers to provide awareness to the people at grassroots level so that they can be benefited under the Yojna.
She further instructed the KPDCL to develop a clear strategy to strengthen the solar power infrastructure across the district, ensuring effective and sustained benefits to all eligible residents.
The Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) was given the responsibility for monitoring the progress of the scheme, besides, ensuring its mass awareness.
Earlier, Executive Engineer KPDCL Kupwara through a detailed powerpoint presentation informed the chair about various parameters of the scheme. He said that 121 applications have been received for installation of PM Surya Ghar in the district so far.
ADDC Kupwara, Gulzar Ahmad Bhat, CPO, Ex. Engineer KPDCL, EOs of Municipalities, and other concerned officers were present in the meeting.
