Some of the promises and actions being taken by the government have always remained contrary to the ground situation, which simultaneously pushes the common masses to the wall. Similarly, the occupation of roadsides outside the hospitals by the street vendors has always remained an issue, which the authorities have failed to end. There were some actions earlier by the concerned department, but unfortunately, the issue continues to persist as the drive launched against the illegal occupation of the roadsides outside the hospitals didn’t continue for unknown reasons. A huge rush of people could be seen outside the hospitals, especially at SMHS hospital here where the street vendors occupy a huge chunk of the roadsides and the people keep the roads busy while buying the essentials. Such an issue needs to be addressed at the shortest possible time. The persistent rush of the people at the vital junctures needs to be reduced so that the patients and attendants visiting the health facility would not be pushed to the wall. The time has come when the authorities need to identify the space to accommodate the street vendors and ensure that the vital junctures are not occupied so that the people visiting the hospitals could heave a sigh of relief. A massive drive in this regard is the need of the hour and the traffic department must gear up to ensure that the roadsides outside the hospitals are not occupied to bring respite to the people visiting these health facilities.
