Srinagar, Nov 29: To provide young women job seekers with opportunities of employment and connect them with the potential employers from the corporate and industrial world a one-day ‘Job-Utsav’ was held at University of Kashmir (KU) here on Friday.
The job fest was organized by Centre for Women’s Studies and Research (CWSR), KU in collaboration with Naandi Foundation- Indian Mahindra Pride Classroom, and District Employment and Counseling Centre, Srinagar.
The event provided a platform for participants to connect with recruiters, offering direct hiring opportunities. Representatives from 28 reputed companies and placement agencies conducted on-the-spot recruitment for various positions. A total of 217 candidates were selected who will be issued appointment letters soon.
While inaugurating the one-day event Vice-Chancellor KU, Prof. Nilofer Khan who was accompanied by Dean Academic Affairs KU Prof. Sharief ud din Pirzada, reiterated university’s commitment to support women and provide them with the necessary platform for economic empowerment.
“We are committed to support women`s financial empowerment and this event is an essential step in empowering young women by creating meaningful networking opportunities with industry leaders and providing them a platform to explore various career opportunities,” she said.
Prof Khan further underscored the need of strong industrial interface for making education relevant and result oriented and further added that institutions need to develop collaborations to explore new horizons and generate new ideas.
Coordinator, CWSR KU, Dr. Roshan Ara while stressing upon the importance of employment in women’s empowerment said, “True empowerment is achieved when women gain access to sustainable jobs and this platform is provided to help them explore potential employment choices that will contribute to their financial independence and growth.”
650 women job aspirants who attended the event expressed gratitude for the opportunity to connect with employers and explore pathways to financial empowerment and career growth.
