Srinagar, Dec 11: Tourists visiting the Lal Chowk in Srinagar have raised concerns over the presence of stray dogs near the city center, particularly around the clock tower.
The issue has become a source of frustration for visitors who come to the popular spot to take selfies and soak in the city’s ambiance.
According to tourists, scores of stray dogs can be seen roaming the area during the morning hours, creating an unsettling environment.
“We came here to capture memories and enjoy the charm of Lal Chowk, but the presence of so many dogs makes it difficult,” said Pooja Sharma, a tourist from Delhi.
Another visitor, Rajesh Kumar, expressed similar concerns: “The area is beautiful and has great historical significance, but the stray dogs make it hard to relax and explore freely. We were hesitant to even step closer to the clock tower.”
Tourists have appealed to local authorities to take immediate steps to address the issue. “Lal Chowk is a major attraction for visitors. Authorities must ensure it remains dog-free so that tourists can enjoy the experience without any unease,” said Anil Gupta, another tourist.
Locals and shopkeepers also urged to Srinagar Municipal Corporation to implement effective measures to manage the stray dog population in the area. [KNT]
