Ganderbal, Dec 17: A 22-year-old youth died after a branch of a Chinar tree fell on him at Patti Rampora area of Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district, officials said.
An official said that the youth identified as Umaan Akbar Ganai of Safapora was passing by the area when some labourers were cutting the Chinar tree.
He said a branch of the tree fell on Umaan, resulting in critical injuries to him. “He was immediately taken to District Hospital Ganderbal, where he was declared dead,” the official said.
The body of Umaan was handed over to his family after completing the medical formalities.
Meanwhile, police have taken cognisance of the incident.
Moreover, the district administration Ganderbal has ordered an inquiry into the matter.
In order to ascertain the facts, Mohammad Altaf Bhat, Assistant Commissioner Revenue has been appointed as Inquiry Officer, who shall submit a detailed enquiry report to this office of ADC Ganderbal within a week’s time positively.
