Baramulla, Dec 24: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Baramulla, Minga Sherpa, Tuesday chaired a meeting at Gulmarg to review the progress of developmental projects and the facilities available related to winter tourism in the Gulmarg sub-division.
The meeting focused on the developmental projects in the region as well as the facilities and arrangements at the world-famous Gulmarg Ski Resort for winter tourism.
The DC took a detailed and comprehensive overview of the status of various ongoing developmental projects in the Gulmarg sub-division, particularly those associated with enhancing the services for the tourists visiting Gulmarg during winters.
During the meeting, Minga Sherpa emphasized the urgency of completing all pending infrastructure development work, particularly in areas concerning road connectivity, snow clearance, healthcare facilities, electricity and accommodation for visiting tourists.
In addition to infrastructure development, the meeting also focused on the operational aspects of winter tourism. The DC directed the AEE R&B and Mechanical to have efficient snow clearance mechanisms in place to have road connectivity to the ski-resort.
Meanwhile, the DC directed the concerned officers to ensure round the clock availability of critical services, such as electricity and water supply, during heavy snowfall periods.
The DC further emphasized that Gulmarg’s success as a winter tourism hub hinges on the availability of modern infrastructure, safe travel conditions and efficient services, all of which must be in place during the winter season.
The meeting was attended by the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Gulmarg Development Authority (GDA), Tariq Hussain; Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Gulmarg, Syed Altaf Musvi; SDPO Tangmarg; Executive Engineer R&B, AEE Mechanical, and PDD, among others.
