Srinagar, Jan 16: An unusual yet stunning natural formation (35-foot icicle), surrounded by snow-covered pine forests, known as Chill Point in Gogaldara in north Kashmir has become a rising attraction for tourists with its unique beauty.
Just 13 kilometers from Tangmarg, this natural “Chill Point”, has not only drawn tourists but also sparkled interest on social media, with many sharing breathtaking pictures on social media, bringing the destination into the spotlight.
Tourists visiting the destination have expressed their love for the picturesque scenery and the warm hospitality of the locals.
Anjali Verma, a tourist from Delhi, while sharing her thoughts said that she had no idea this place existed until recently. “The unique natural formation and the snow-covered pine trees are like something out of a dream. It’s peaceful and perfect for anyone seeking a break from city life.”
Another visitor, Vishal Malhotra, a Lucknow resident, shared his excitement, “The sledging rides and the local meals made this trip unforgettable. It’s like a hidden paradise that deserves more attention.”
Meanwhile, local residents have stepped up to accommodate the influx of tourists by providing meals, washrooms, and sledges for rides. However, they believe that the destination has untapped potential and are urging the administration to take measures to promote it on a larger scale.
“Gogaldara has everything to become as popular as Gulmarg or Pahalgam. If the government invests in its promotion and infrastructure, it can bring in more tourists and create jobs for the locals,” said Mushtaq Ahmad, a local businessman.
Similarly, Basit Ahmed, a sledge ride operator said that they are doing their best to welcome tourists, but proper infrastructure and official recognition could make this place a major attraction. “It’s not just about tourism; it’s about boosting the local economy”, he said.
They appealed to the administration to explore Gogaldara’s potential, with a believe that Chill Point could become a contributor to the region’s economy besides tourists an another reason to visit the valley.
