Baramulla, Jan 22: A special Block Diwas program was Wednesday held at Wagoora Kreeri under the leadership of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Baramulla, Minga Sherpa, to address public grievances and promote inclusive governance at the grassroots level.
The program witnessed active participation from local residents of Wagoora Kreeri and adjacent areas, along with officers from various line departments.
On the occasion, residents raised several pressing issues, including the upgradation of healthcare facilities, improvement in drinking water supply, macadamization of roads, upgradation of irrigation facilities and other local concerns. Several issues were resolved on the spot by the DC, while others were referred to the concerned departments for timely redressal.
Addressing the gathering, DC emphasized that the primary objective of the Block Diwas initiative is to bring governance closer to the people. He explained that these programs are designed to ensure transparency, responsiveness and accountability in administration.
The Block Diwas program is a direct channel for citizens to communicate their concerns, seek solutions, and understand the government’s schemes and programs, said the DC, adding that it is an opportunity for the Administration to engage with the community and address their needs in real-time.
The DC further added that these programs are part of the District Administration’s continuous efforts to ensure that every citizen has access to government services and welfare schemes. Whether it’s healthcare, infrastructure, or livelihood, the government is committed to improving the living standards of people.
He also highlighted the importance of schemes like the Holistic Agriculture Development Program (HADP), PM Suriya Ghar, Mission Yuva, and Vishwakarma Scheme in fostering development and empowering local communities.
The special Block Diwas program continues to serve as a vital platform for resolving grievances, promoting welfare schemes, and ensuring effective service delivery, strengthening the bond between the administration and the public.
