In search of livelihood, hundreds of people across Jammu and Kashmir visit different parts of the country and globe to earn bread and butter for their families. In one such instance, a youngster from Kashmir too had visited Saudi Arabia to earn livelihood for his family, but unfortunately has landed in the jail for unknown reasons, which family claims are untrue charges against him. In this regard, the Member of Parliament, Syed Aga Ruhullah Mehdi has appealed to the External Affairs Minister, Dr. S. Jaishankar, to intervene in the case of a Kashmiri engineer, who has been detained in Saudi Arabia for the past four years. Focusing for his intervention, a letter has been shot to the EAM Jaishankar to expedite the release and safe return of Abdul Rafi Baba, a 36-year-old engineer from Srinagar’s Soura area, who has been held in a Saudi prison since March 1, 2020, and his family is desperate for government intervention. As far as the family’s statement is concerned, the youth has no involvement in any crime, but has been put behind the bars for untrue claims, which makes it imperative for the central as well as the local government in Jammu and Kashmir to pursue the case of Kashmiri Engineer and intervene into the issue so that the safe return of the jailed person is ensured to his home in Jammu and Kashmir.
