Anantnag, Feb 11: In a significant development, Treadmill test (TMT) services in GMC Anantnag that were at a halt for the last eight months have been restarted on Tuesday.
In addition to restarting the services, one more advanced TMT Machine (Schiller 320) has been added to help the cardiology division of internal medicine to cater to the huge rush of patients, reads a statement.
Principal and Dean GMC Anantnag Prof Dr Rukhsana Najeeb, who inaugurated installation of one more TMT machine, played a pivotal role in restarting the much needed services of TMT at the facility, as reported by International cardiologist Dr Syed Maqbool.
Dr S Maqbool further said that the addition of a new high-end Schiller 320 machine to the already existing one will make it possible to test two persons simultaneously for the procedure, which is going to happen for the first time in any of the Govt. run medical colleges of Jammu and Kashmir.
International cardiologist Dr Shamim Iqbal said that the TMT is a simple test used to diagnose the most common killer disease of the world. Dr Showkat Hussain Shah, another interventional cardiologist working at GMC Anantang said that anybody with chest pain on exertion and particularly with risk factors needs to undergo a test to determine whether he requires an angiography or not.
Principal and Dean GMC Anantnag Prof. Dr. Rukhsana Najeeb also inaugurated the surgical skill lab at GMC Anantnag today. As reported by HOD of Post Graduate Department of General surgery GMC Anantnag Dr. Nazir Wani, GMC Anantang has become the first Govt run Medical College in J &K to start a surgical skill lab for enhancing imparting hands-on training to doctors working in surgical specialties.
The Principal congratulated both the departments for making a new beginning and hoped that other departments will also come forward to help us to make GMC Anantang one of the best colleges in the whole country. She thanked Govt. of Jammu and Kashmir for supporting GMC Anantnag in upgrading infrastructure and enhancing manpower strength at the facility. (KNO)
