Jammu, Feb 19: The Jammu and Kashmir government is committed to fostering harmony among diverse communities and sees the restoration of the historic Durbar Move as a crucial step in this direction, Advisor to the Chief Minister, Nasir Aslam Wani, said on Wednesday.
Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a folk event in Jammu, Wani emphasized that the Omar Abdullah-led administration is making concrete efforts to enhance inter-community relations.
He stressed that reinstating the Durbar Move—a traditional practice of shifting government offices to Jammu during winter—is essential to ensure people-to-people contact and cultural exchange.
“It is our firm belief that reviving the Durbar Move will help restore social bonds. The Chief Minister has reiterated this vision multiple times. This winter, Jammu witnessed a significant influx of people from various regions after years, strengthening social ties and boosting trade and cultural interactions,” Wani said.
Regarding the return of Kashmiri Pandits to the Valley, Wani reaffirmed the government’s commitment, stating that Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has already taken steps, including the reconstitution of the Apex Committee, to facilitate their return and reintegration into society.
“The government is determined to restore the pristine glory of J&K and set an example for the world,” he added.(KINS)
