Kulgam, Mar 17: The security forces on Monday detected and defused an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) in Reshipora Qaimoh area of South Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Monday, officials said.
Officials said that the explosive device was found by a joint team of police and security forces on the roadside at Reshipora Qaimoh in Kulgam district.
Upon inspection, it was confirmed to be an IED inside a black bag, they said.
A Bomb Disposal Squad was immediately called to the spot to defuse the IED, the officials said, adding that the area was cordoned off, and the traffic movement on the Kulgam-Shopian route was suspended as a precautionary measure.
“The bomb disposal squad defused the IED on the spot without causing any damage,” the officials said, adding that the traffic movement on the road was later restored.
