Govt terminates 5 employees over narcotics trade in J&K

Srinagar, Mar 26: The Jammu and Kashmir government on Wednesday terminated five government employees over their involvement in narcotics trade, officials said.
Officials said that the employees include Abdul Rashid Bhat, Gang Coolie, Irrigation & Flood Control Division Sumbal, Dilbag Singh, Lineman, Jal Shakti (PHE) Sub-Division, Hiranagar, Gulzar Ahmed, Assistant Motorman, Hydraulic Division Ramban, and Noor Mohammad Sheikh, Gang Coolie, Ferozpora Basin, Irrigation division, Tangmarg.
He said that all the employees have been dismissed from their service in connection with Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substance (NDPS) cases in their respective areas.
Earlier, the government terminated Gulzar Ahmad Dar, Jamadar, Irrigation Division Shopian in connection with a case in FIR No. 21/2023 u/s 8/15 NDPS.
According to an order, Gulzar Ahmad Dar, Jamadar, Irrigation Division Shopian has been dismissed from service in connection with Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substance (NDPS) case in FIR No. 21/2023 u/s 8/15 NDPS.
The order states that 9.9 kg poppy straw was recovered from in 2023 and subsequently he was placed under suspension that year.
It added that further inquiry was initiated against the accused which established that he was involved in narcotics trade and deems to be terminated from service.
The order stated that the accused is also disqualified from any future employment with the government. (KNO)
