Gardening: A natural path to physical, mental, emotional well-being

Eid-ul-Fitr, the Muslim festival is inching closer with the markets witnessing a massive rush of shoppers on a regular basis. However, the time is apt to identify the downtrodden section of the society to provide them assistance as guided by the Islam and make sure they celebrate the festival with joy. Eid-ul-Fitr is a day marked by joy, feasts, prayers, and giving. It is a time to reflect on the spirit of charity and compassion that is at the heart of this celebration. One key element of this spirit is the giving of Sadqa tul Fitr, a form of charity meant to ensure that even the most vulnerable members of society can partake in the festivities. Sadqa tul Fitr is an obligatory act of charity that Muslims are encouraged to give before the Eid prayer. The essence of this act is to purify the fasts of those who have observed them, and most importantly, to provide those in need with the means to celebrate Eid with dignity. It is a fundamental teaching in Islam that those who are blessed with wealth should not only be mindful of their own happiness but should also seek to uplift others. Sadqa tul Fitr serves as a reminder that our happiness should be shared, especially with those who may otherwise feel excluded from the festivities. As we approach Eid, let us remember that the essence of this celebration is not merely in feasting, dressing up, or receiving gifts, but in the act of giving—both materially and spiritually. By fulfilling our obligation to give Sadqa tul Fitr, we not only purify our own hearts but also create an environment where every Muslim, regardless of their social or economic status, can experience the true joy of Eid.
