Government strengthening grassroots governance: Sakeena Itoo

Anantnag, Apr 3: Minister for Health and Medical Education, Social Welfare and Education, Sakeena Itoo, Thursday conducted an extensive tour of Shangus-Anantnag East Constituency to assess the public healthcare facilities and educational infrastructure in the area.
MLA Shangus-Anantnag-East, Reyaz Ahmad Khan; MLA Anantnag-West, Abdul Majeed Bhat (Larmi); Deputy Commissioner Anantnag, Syed Fakhruddin Hamid; Director Health Services Kashmir, Director School Education Kashmir, Director Social Welfare Kashmir besides other district officers also accompanied the Minister during the visit.
While inspecting the Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Shangus, Sakeena took stock of medical services, availability of essential supplies and overall patient care at the facility. She engaged with the hospital staff and enquired about the overall healthcare delivery at the hospital. She assured them that necessary interventions would be made for infrastructural and other advanced medical care services at the facility to provide world-class healthcare facilities to the public.
The Minister also interacted with the patients and had on-spot feedback from them about the services being provided at the hospital.
Later, the Minister visited the Primary Health Centre (PHC) Nowgam, assessing its operational efficiency, availability of medicines as well as other facilities.
Meanwhile, Sakeena Itoo also inspected the Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS), Shangus, and took stock of its functioning.
She inspected the classrooms, laboratories and other facilities at the institution. She also interacted with the staff and the students.
Interacting with the Principal and other staff, Sakeena Itoo stressed on the importance of ensuring a conducive learning environment in line with the NEP-2020. She assured them all possible support from the government for necessary infrastructure upgrades at the institution.
Sakeena Itoo also engaged with large number of locals at Shangus, assessing their issues and concerns.
Addressing the large gathering, Sakeena Itoo reiterated that the government is strengthening grassroots governance and ensuring that essential services reach every household and section of the society. “Healthcare and education are among the top priorities of Omar led government. We are committed towards strengthening these sectors for a brighter future of Jammu and Kashmir”, she stated.
She assured the people of Shangus that their concerns regarding healthcare and public welfare will be addressed on priority.
MLA Shangus-Anantnag-East, Reyaz Ahmad Khan also addressed the gathering.
