Learning becomes truly interesting when it goes beyond the walls of a classroom. The education system is familiar to all of us, and its importance continues to shape the world. In every corner of the globe, people have come to realize the power of education and its potential to bring about greatness.
Education has no boundaries, no limitations—it is a universal right and a foundational pillar of a civilized society. What distinguishes humans from animals is not just our biology, but our ability to learn, reflect, and grow. The Quran beautifully describes humans as Ashraf-ul-Makhluqat—the noblest of all creation. To become truly noble, however, we need nurturing environments that foster kindness, knowledge, and responsibility.
Every human being holds the power to influence society. A single idea, when nurtured in the right environment, can change the world. Our mindset is shaped by the surroundings we grow up in. Sensible people surround themselves with positive influences and treat every challenge as an opportunity to learn. Success doesn’t come from strength alone, but from the strength of the mind and heart. Great minds are those that solve problems, innovate, and lead—not for recognition, but for a greater cause.
Great minds have no boundaries; they don’t belong to a single caste, color, or nation. They are assets to the entire world. Out of eight billion people on Earth, only a few rise to become influential in science, education, art, politics, religion, or sports. These are the people who work quietly behind the scenes, sacrificing their comforts for the betterment of others.
So, how can we produce more great minds?
We need to provide our children with what I call a free zone—a learning environment without fear, punishment, or pressure. Fortunately, modern schools are moving toward such spaces, focusing on creativity, curiosity, and exploration. Teachers play a crucial role in this transformation. They are the real builders of our nation and deserve appreciation—not just with words, but with identity, recognition, and support.
Unfortunately, teachers often lack the respect and support they deserve, even from those who owe their success to them. Let us never forget the hands that helped us climb. Recognizing and honoring teachers brings not only dignity but lasting improvement in the entire education system.
Field trips: Learning beyond the classroom
Field trips are an essential part of this nurturing environment. They offer students the opportunity to witness and experience what they learn in textbooks. For example, while studying plants, take students outside. Let them enjoy lunch in nature, observe real-life examples, and ask questions. Teach in a way that sticks with them for life—especially skills like measurement, observation, and analysis.
Encouragement is another powerful tool. Praise effort, even if it falls short. Give students a 9 out of 10 when they deserve 6—not to mislead them, but to motivate. Let them feel like leaders—make them class monitors, praise their appearance, and celebrate their small wins. These moments can shape a child’s self-esteem and future choices.
Let’s create schools that grow minds, not just fill them. Let’s raise a generation that values honesty, kindness, and curiosity. And let’s remember: a simple field trip might just be the beginning of a great idea that changes the world.
