J&K highly vulnerable to multiple natural hazards: Parl panel

New Delhi, May 1: In the aftermath of April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that left 26 people, mostly tourists, dead America has reiterated its resolve to support India in its fight against terrorism.
According to the details available, US Secretary of Defence Pete Hegseth spoke to Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and assured him that the United States stands in solidarity with India and supports it’s right to defend itself.
“Pakistan has been exposed as a rogue state, fuelling global terrorism, and destabilising the region. The world can no longer turn a blind eye to terrorism,” Singh told Hegseth.
The Defence Ministry on its official X handle wrote: “The US Secretary of Defence @PeteHegseth spoke to Raksha Mantri Shri @rajnathsingh earlier today and expressed his deepest sympathies for the tragic loss of innocent civilians in the dastardly terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir.”
“Secretary Hegseth said that the U.S. stands in solidarity with India and supports India’s right to defend itself. He reiterated the strong support of the U.S. government in India’s fight against terrorism,” the post read.
“During the conversation, RM told the @SecDef that Pakistan has a history of supporting, training and funding terrorist organisations. He further said that it is important for the global community to explicitly and unequivocally condemn and call out such heinous acts of terrorism,” the Defence Ministry said.
The phone call came amid heightened tensions with Pakistan following the Pahalgam terror attack. India has taken diplomatic and strategic measures against Pakistan. India has suspended the Indus Water Treaty, closed the Integrated Check Post at Attari, and curtailed the strength of High Commissions.
Pertinently, the Directors General of Military Operations (DGMO) of India and Pakistan communicated via hotline on Tuesday, during which India raised strong objections to the “unprovoked ceasefire violations by the Pakistan Army” along the Line of Control (LoC) and the International Border. (KNO)
