Budgam, May 19: A JCB operator lost his life after a massive landslide struck during excavation work in the Jawalapora Wudder area of Central Kashmir’s Budgam district late Sunday night.
Officials said the machine, owned by a resident of Jawalapora, was carrying out earth-cutting operations when a sudden landslide buried it under a heavy mass of clay and debris.
The operator, identified as Tasir Ahmad Bhat, son of Mushtaq Ahmad Bhat from Dulipora Waterhail, was trapped inside and died on the spot.
Police have registered a case and started an investigation into the incident. [KNT]
