Srinagar, May 30: Senior Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer Sanjeev Verma has been appointed as the new Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Jammu and Kashmir, according to an official notification issued by the Election Commission of India.
Verma, a seasoned bureaucrat, brings years of administrative experience to the role and will oversee the electoral process in the Union Territory, including the preparation and revision of electoral rolls and the conduct of future elections.
Verma’s role will be central to ensuring transparency, fairness, and efficiency in the electoral framework.
Sources in the administration said that Verma will assume charge immediately, replacing the outgoing Chief Electoral Officer. (CNS)
