Ganderbal, Jun 27: Urging Amarnath Yatris to travel in convoys for their safety and convenience, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir, V K Birdi on Friday said that all the arrangements have been put in place for the safe and smooth conduct of the annual pilgrimage slated to commence on July 3.
Talking to reporters here, IGP Birdi, said, “Police have strengthened security arrangements along Baltal and Pahalgam tracks to ensure smooth movement of pilgrims.”
He said, “Proper security arrangements have been made at both tracks, as they are both essential. The Baltal Axis has detailed measures in place to make the journey safe and smooth for devotees,” he said.
The IGP also advised pilgrims to travel in convoys for added safety and convenience. “Travellers should come in convoys so their journey can be simple and easy,” he said.
To help manage traffic during the yatra, the traffic police will issue regular advisories, including cut-off timings for travel. These are aimed at ensuring all movement takes place within safe time windows. “I urge all pilgrims to check the traffic advisories before starting their journey to avoid any inconvenience, and follow cut off timings,” Birdi added.
