DC Kulgam reviews performance of Health department

Kulgam, Jul 28: A comprehensive review meeting of the District Health Society (DHS), Kulgam was held Monday under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam, Athar Aamir Khan to assess the performance and achievements of the health department across various verticals here in the meeting hall of Mini-Secretariat, here.
The meeting focused on evaluating ongoing initiatives, identifying gaps in service delivery and issuing directions to strengthen the district’s public health infrastructure.
The meeting was attended by ADDC, Altaf Ahmad Khan; ADC, Viqar Ahmed Giri; CPO, Malik Suheel; Chief Medical Officer, DHO, Medical Superintendent DH Kulgam, District Immunization Officer, all BMOs and field officers of health department.
During the meeting, DC was informed that the district, with an estimated population of about 5.0 lakh, is served by a network of 167 health institutions, including a District Hospital, 3 Community Health Centres (CHCs), 19 Primary Health Centres (PHCs), 26 New Type PHCs, and 118 Sub-Centres.
DC appreciated the encouraging progress in key health indicators such as OPD/IPD footfall, institutional deliveries, NCD and Dialysis and staring of chemotherapy unit at DH Kulgam.
While reviewing the Ayushman Bharat PMJAY scheme, DC noted 92.0% saturation in registration and claims exceeding Rs.18.30 Cr for over 24,903 patients till date. He directed the concerned officers to ensure 100% saturation in registration across the district.
Reviewing the performance under the National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme, DC instructed health authorities to intensify X-ray testing, case detection, and prompt treatment of TB cases.
The meeting also discussed the progress under other national health programs, including NVBDCP, NPCBVI, NP-NCD and NMHP. DC emphasized the need to strengthen preventive healthcare and early intervention measures through community-level awareness and screening activities.
The health department was directed to keep surveillance by doing regular checkups and screening in those villages where last time outbreaks regarding water borne diseases occurred.
It was enjoined upon the health department to cover all the beneficiaries under PMJAY scheme particularly in the upper belts of district by organizing regular health camps and deploy Mobile Medical Units to provide medical services at the doorsteps.
Directions were passed to RBSK wing of health deptt to have an intensive healthcare checkup camps in all 82 High and Higher Secondary Schools of district for screening under Mental Health Programme.
Concluding the meeting, DC directed all doctors and healthcare staff to work with zeal and dedication in serving the people of Kulgam by delivering accessible, equitable, and efficient healthcare services to all sections of society.
