Srinagar, Jul 29: The ongoing Amarnath Yatra is all set to surpass the four lakh mark, as the cumulative number of pilgrims, who have performed darshan at the holy cave has reached 3,93,401 as of Tuesday, official figures reveal.
According to data available, a total of 7,203 pilgrims offered prayers at the holy cave shrine on Tuesday amid tight security arrangements and a spiritually charged atmosphere.
The day’s pilgrim turnout included 5,025 males, 1,352 females, 109 children, 47 sadhus, 1 sadhvi, 1 transgender person, and 668 personnel from the security forces. The total footfall of pilgrims since July 3 has now reached 3,93,401.
Officials said the yatra has continued smoothly with a good daily turnout despite weather-related challenges in the higher reaches. “We expect the total number to cross 4 lakh tomorrow if the trend continues,” an official said.
Meanwhile, the 27th batch of 1,490 pilgrims left the Bhagwati Nagar base camp in Jammu early Monday morning and has reached the twin base camps in the Valley.
According to the details, the convoy departed in two segments and was escorted by CRPF and J&K Police personnel to ensure safety throughout the journey.
The batch comprised 1,262 men and 186 women, along with 42 sadhus and sadhvis—37 sadhus and 5 sadhvis. The yatris were accommodated in 61 vehicles, including 35 buses, 7 medium motor vehicles (MMVs), 18 light motor vehicles (LMVs), and 1 two-wheeler.
The convoy was split between the two main routes leading to the holy cave. The first group, consisting of 327 pilgrims in 16 vehicles, proceeded towards the Baltal base camp in Ganderbal district via the shorter but steeper 14-kilometer route. The second group, comprising 1,163 pilgrims in 45 vehicles, took the traditional 48-kilometer Pahalgam route in Anantnag district.
The annual Amarnath Yatra, which commenced on July 3 and is scheduled to conclude on August 9, has been proceeding smoothly, drawing participation from across the country.
