Bandipora, Aug 9: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Indu Kanwal Chib, along with SSP Bandipora, Harmeet Singh Mehta Saturday flagged-off the annual Chota Amarnath Yatra from Sharda Temple, Kaloosa, amid an atmosphere of devotion and communal harmony.
The Yatra, a revered spiritual journey to the Chota Amarnath Holy Cave in Arin-Dardpora, holds deep significance for devotees of Lord Shiva. Pilgrims from across Jammu and Kashmir and other parts of the country gathered to embark on the sacred pilgrimage, seeking blessings at the holy cave.
A day before the flag-off, DC interacted with members of the Kashmiri Pandit community. She extended her best wishes to the pilgrims for a safe and spiritually fulfilling journey.
District administration, in close coordination with the police and other departments, ensured comprehensive arrangements for the smooth conduct of the Yatra. These included track development up to the Maha Daneshwar Temple, provision of washrooms, langer services, deployment of medical teams, adequate security arrangements, and safe drinking water facilities along the route.
The 15-kilometer Yatra commences from Arin-Dardpora, passing through Shampthan, and culminating at the Chota Amarnath Cave. Adequate security personnel, health camps, and volunteers were stationed throughout the route to facilitate a hassle-free pilgrimage.
Among others, Additional Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Assistant Commissioner Development and Tehsildar Bandipora besides other concerned officers from the district administration, volunteers, and senior citizens of the town were present during the flag-off ceremony.
