Mirwaiz anguished over killing of minor girl in G’bl

Srinagar, Aug 18: Mirwaiz-e-Kashmir,Moulvi Muhammad Umar Farooq expressed shock and grief over the gruesome killing of a minor girl in Ganderbal in a failed attempt at abduction.
In a statement, Mirwaiz said that such a reprehensible act has not only extinguished a young life and devastated a family, but has shaken all of society and exposed the insecurity and vulnerability of women and children which is very concerning.
He said that authorities must immediately act and catch the culprits and give them the harshest of punishment as a deterrent and help restore the confidence among people, especially young girls.
Extending his heartfelt condolences and solidarity to the bereaved family, Mirwaiz prayed for patience and strength to them in this hour of unbearable loss.
Mirwaiz emphasized that it is the collective responsibility of society, alongside institutions, to safeguard the lives and dignity of children and women and to ensure that such tragedies are prevented. (KNO)
