Sakeena visits Govt Hospital Gandhinagar, assesses medical care facilities

Jammu, Aug 19: Minister for Health and Medical Education, Sakeena Itoo Tuesday visited Government Hospital Gandhi Nagar to assess the medical care facilities available for the public there.
The Minister was accompanied by MLA Bahu Constituency, Vikram Randhawa; Director Health Services, Jammu, Dr. Abdul Hamid Zargar; Director AYUSH, Dr. Nuzhat Bashir Shah; Chief Medical Officer and other senior officers of the health department.
During the visit, the Minister held detailed inspection of the hospital and visited Emergency Wing, Inpatient Department (IPD) Block, General wards, Blood Bank and other sections of the hospital.
On the occasion, the Minister also interacted with the on duty doctors and other medical staff to gain first-hand feedback about the availability of medicines, diagnostic support and overall patient care available at the hospital.
During the interaction, the Minister emphasized on the importance of strengthening healthcare infrastructure and ensuring timely medical attention to those in need. She urged the hospital administration to focus on cleanliness, patient comfort and effective healthcare services.
During the visit, Medical Superintendent of the hospital, Dr. Narinder Singh Bhatial, apprised the Minister of the current functioning and overall performance of the hospital.
The Minister, on the occasion, also interacted with patients, their attendants and general public to gather feedback from them about the services being provided at the hospital. She assured the public that the medical infrastructure will be upgraded at the hospital as per the needs of common people.
During the visit, MLA, Vikram Randhawa also raised concerns regarding the underutilized 200-bedded Maternal and Child Health (MCH) block with the Minister.
Responding to this, the Health Minister instructed the Director Health Services, Jammu, to submit a formal proposal for optimal utilization of the MCH building.
Earlier, Sakeena Itoo also visited the GB Pant Hospital Jammu and reviewed the healthcare care facilities available at the facility. She took note of various concerns highlighted by staff as well as patients and general public at the hospital. She assured them that issues will be addressed promptly.
The Minister reiterated the commitment of Government towards improving the healthcare services across Jammu & Kashmir. She highlighted that accessible and affordable healthcare is the right of every citizen and Government is committed to fulfil the healthcare needs of general public.
