Srinagar, Aug 20: Demonstrating prompt action and swift investigation, police in Pulwama on Wednesday said to have solved a hit-and-run case within hours of its occurrence.
“Police Post Newa received information that an unknown vehicle had hit a motorcycle near Gudoora Bridge, resulting in critical injuries to the pillion rider, Raja Begum of Looswani. She was immediately shifted to District Hospital Pulwama, where doctors regrettably declared her brought dead,” a police spokesman said in a statement.
Upon receiving the report, police said that a case was registered at Police Station Pulwama and a special team was constituted. “CCTV footage and multiple sources were promptly examined, leading to the identification of the offending vehicle a blue three-wheeler auto load carrier. The vehicle was seized promptly. During investigation, it surfaced that the accused driver is a minor. As per legal provisions, he has not been taken into custody, and further proceedings under the Juvenile Justice Act are being initiated,” police said.
“This swift investigation was carried out by the team of Police Post Newa and PS Pulwama under guidance of SSP Pulwama PD Nitya (IPS). Police reaffirms its commitment to ensure justice, road safety, and zero tolerance towards rash and negligent driving,” the statement added.
