DC Pulwama reviews preparations for celebration of Sewa Parv

Pulwama, Sep 10: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Pulwama, Dr. Basharat Qayoom Wednesday chaired a meeting at the Administrative Complex to review arrangements for the celebration of ‘Sewa Parv’, being organised across the Union Territory from 17th September to 2nd October, 2025.
At the outset, DC underlined the objective of Sewa Parv as a UT-wide initiative to promote public service, community participation, and inclusive governance. He emphasised that all departments must work in close coordination to ensure active community involvement in the planned activities.
Meeting discussed the schedule of activities to be undertaken in the district, including cleanliness and plantation drives, awareness programmes on waste management, Books, Stationery and clothes donation drives and education support for underprivileged students, health check-up and nutrition camps, visits to orphanages and old-age homes, and workshops on government schemes, organic farming, and skill development among others.
Cultural programmes, painting and essay competitions, and social media campaigns for wider public outreach were also highlighted.
DC directed all line departments to prepare detailed action plans, designate nodal officers, and upload activity-wise reports, photographs, and videos on the designated portal. He also stressed on convergence among departments for better results and instructed officers to ensure maximum participation of the general public.
While reviewing departmental responsibilities, DC asked for special focus on cleanliness of public spaces, health and blood donation camps, engagement with elderly and vulnerable sections and awareness on government welfare schemes to reach the grassroots during the fortnight-long celebration.
Dr Basharat urged officers to make Sewa Parv a people’s movement in Pulwama through visible, impactful, and sustained initiatives that reflect the spirit of service and social responsibility.
