Srinagar, Sep 12: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and National Conference (NC) President Dr Farooq Abdullah on Friday joined the devotees in offering the congregational Jumma (Friday) prayers at the revered Hazratbal Shrine on the occasion of the Friday following Eid-Milad-un-Nabi (SAW).
On this blessed occasion, the Chief Minister, along with NC President, Advisor to the Chief Minister Nasir Aslam Wani and other senior leaders, had the honour of witnessing the sacred glimpse of the Holy Relic, believed to be of Prophet Muhammad (SAW), after the prayers.
They prayed for lasting peace, prosperity and happiness for the people of Jammu and Kashmir while the Chief Minister’s sons, Zamir and Zahir Abdullah, also accompanied the NC delegation.
Speaking to reporters after the prayers, Dr Farooq stressed the need for communal harmony, saying Hindus and Muslims should live in peace and harmony. “Everywhere, Muslims are being harassed,” he said.
Expressing concern over the frequent closure of the historic Jamia Masjid in Srinagar, he said that it is unfortunate that Jamia Masjid remains shut on this auspicious day.
Meanwhile, the official account of the Chief Minister, J&K, on X, shared that the Chief Minister paid obeisance and offered prayers at Dargah Hazratbal on the occasion of the Friday following Milad-un-Nabi (SAW), praying for peace, harmony, and prosperity in J&K.
Similarly, a large gathering of devotees marked the occasion at Hazratbal, where emotional scenes unfolded as an ocean of worshippers raised their hands in prayer, seeking blessings and peace on the revered day. (KNO)
