Srinagar, Sep 18: The Committee on Subordinate Legislation of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly Thursday convened a meeting at the Assembly Complex in Srinagar to examine and review the rules and regulations framed by the Revenue Department.
The meeting was chaired by Committee Chairman Hasnain Masoodi and attended by members Reyaz Ahmad Khan, Shabir Ahmad Kullay, Hilal Akbar Lone, Satish Kumar Sharma, and Dr. Rameshwar Singh.
At the outset, the Committee held a threadbare discussion on the digitization of revenue records, mutations, and settlements. The Committee stressed the need to ensure easy access and seamless disposal of services across all government offices for the benefit of citizens.
The Committee conducted a detailed examination of various rules, sub-rules, regulations, and bye-laws of the Revenue Department. Issues related to fair land compensation, rehabilitation of affected persons, and the process of mutations were discussed in detail.
Chairman Hasnain Masoodi emphasized the importance of land laws in ensuring justice and equity, reiterating the Committee’s commitment to safeguarding public welfare. He urged members to offer constructive suggestions for the betterment of all sections of society.
Members of the Committee shared valuable recommendations and raised pertinent issues within its jurisdiction, reaffirming their resolve to uphold transparency and accountability in subordinate legislation.
