Budgam, Nov 27: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Budgam Dr. Bilal Mohi-ud-din Bhat Thursday conducted a detailed visit to the newly established Drug De-addiction Centre in Budgam to assess the facilities, infrastructure, and overall preparedness of the institution.
During the inspection, the DC was briefed about the ongoing arrangements, availability of medical care, and initiatives being taken to establish a safe and supportive environment for individuals undergoing treatment for substance dependence. A thorough review of infrastructure, patient wards, counselling rooms, and medical support systems was carried out.
While interacting with the concerned officers and staff, it was emphasised by the DC that trained and professional personnel are essential for effectively managing patients battling addiction. It was stressed that the staff must be properly skilled, sensitised, and equipped to handle patients with compassion, patience, and discipline.
The DC instructed the concerned authorities to ensure the availability of all basic amenities, essential medicines, clinical support, and a hygienic atmosphere within the centre. It was directed that the centre function proactively so that every patient receives uninterrupted care, counselling, and medical attention.
Highlighting the importance of holistic treatment, the DC also called for the provision of adequate recreational, motivational, and therapeutic facilities for patients undergoing rehabilitation.
It was conveyed to the DC that such facilities significantly aid psychological recovery and help create a positive mindset for long-term healing.
The DC noted that the newly established Drug De-addiction Centre is poised to become an important pillar in the district’s efforts to combat substance abuse. He further added that the administration remains committed to strengthening de-addiction, counselling, and rehabilitation mechanisms to safeguard youth and promote a healthy, drug-free society.
SDM Beerwah, ACD Budgam, DSWO, CMO Budgam and other concerned officials accompanied the DC.
