New Delhi, Dec 5: Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare Friday informed Lok Sabha that in the past three financial years, Jammu and Kashmir has received an approval of Rs 2,690.40 lakh under the National Programme for Prevention and Control of Non-Communicable Diseases (NP-NCD).
As per official data, Rs 792 lakhs were sanctioned for the UT in financial year 2022–23, followed by Rs 882 lakh in 2023–24 and Rs 1,016.40 lakh in the financial year 2024–25. “The expenditure figures stood at Rs 202.20 lakh, Rs 208.39 lakh and Rs 530.60 lakh respectively—reflecting a significant rise in utilisation of funds during the ongoing fiscal year.”
The ministry also said that the population-based screening for major NCDs—diabetes, hypertension, cardiovascular diseases and cancer is being implemented across Ayushman Arogya Mandirs and is reviewed regularly through real-time analytics on the National NCD Portal.
Under national initiatives such as Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan, large-scale screenings were held nationwide including in J&K, covering diabetes, hypertension, and common cancers among women.
The ministry further said, “To strengthen early detection and management, the Government highlighted the expansion of tele-consultation services through the e-Sanjeevani hub-and-spoke system, enabling specialist guidance to health officers posted at primary facilities.”
It also said 297 DCCC have been approved for establishment across the country as part of expanded cancer care infrastructure. (KNO)
