Baramulla, Dec 15: Newly appointed Chief Education Officer (CEO) Baramulla, Abdul Rasheed Mir, on Monday outlined his priorities for the district’s education sector, with a strong emphasis on bridging learning gaps, strengthening foundational education and improving infrastructure in government schools.
During interaction with Mir said his immediate focus would be on ensuring quality learning outcomes across all schools.
Baramulla is one of the largest districts with a vast education network, comprising 1,338 government schools and 378 private institutions.
“My main focus will be on addressing learning gaps. Wherever learning corners are required, we will establish them. Ground and basic facilities will be developed wherever they are lacking,” Mir said, adding that a learner-centred approach will guide all future initiatives.
Highlighting national priorities, the CEO said special attention will be given to the NIPUN Bharat initiative, aimed at achieving foundational literacy and numeracy. “A strong foundation is essential. If the roots are strong, the tree will always grow tall,” he remarked.
Mir also stressed inclusive education, assuring support to students from all backgrounds, including those from socially and economically weaker sections. “Every child should feel safe, capable and confident within the education system,” he said.
Delivering a message to teachers and parents, the CEO said, “Change will come when teachers teach with patience, leaders lead with integrity, and parents place trust in the system.”
He expressed confidence that collective efforts would put all schools in Baramulla on a progressive path of quality and inclusive education.
