Sagar chairs PUC meeting to examine audit para pertaining to JKRTC

Jammu, Dec 23: A meeting of the Committee on Public Undertakings (PUC) was held Tuesday under the Chairmanship of MLA, Ali Mohammad Sagar, at meeting J&K Legislative Assembly Secretariat Jammu to discuss the working of JKRTC.
Legislators, Saifullah Mir, Baldev Raj Sharma, Ranbir Singh Pathania, Dr. Bashir Ahmad Shah Veeri, Showkat Hussain Ganie and Tanvir Sadiq besides Secretary, JKLA, Manoj Kumar Pandit were present in the meeting.
Threadbare discussion was held on Audit Para No. 6.1 contained in CAG’s Audit Report for the year 2018-19, pertaining to Transport Department, (JKSRTC).
Accountant General J&K, Tsewang Tharchin, briefed the Committee about the issues highlighted in the CAG’s audit reports pertaining to Transport Department (JKRTC).
Secretary, Transport Department, Avny Lavasa , briefed the Committee about the functioning of the department and the action taken on issues pointed out in the audit report.
MD, JKRTC also briefed the Committee about performance, mission, status of man power, JKRTC fleet and other issues besides physical and financial activities of the Corporation.
The Committee emphasized upon the senior officers of Transport Department to take all necessary measures to make the Corporation profitable. It also asked to provide transportation facilities to the neglected areas so that the people of the area could be benefited.
The Chairman directed the Secretary, Transport Department, to submit the written reply on the queries raised by the Members of the Committee in the meeting and submit the same to the Committee as early as possible.
The Committee also directed the concerned officers of Transport Department to clear all the liabilities of government.
The members also gave their valuable suggestions on the subject.
Among others, Director, Finance, (Transport); GM (Operations), Jammu; GM (Operations), Kashmir; GM (Load) besides senior officers of concerned Department and Assembly Secretariat attended the meeting.
