Baramulla, Dec 25: Christians was Thursday celebrated Christmas with great fervor and enthusiasm, gathering at the historic Holy Family Catholic Church, Saint Joseph, Baramulla, which has been a symbol of peace and harmony since 1905.
Scores of devotees, including men and women, thronged the church to mark the birthday of Jesus Christ, offering special prayers for peace and brotherhood. The church was beautifully decorated with colorful buntings and balloons, creating a festive atmosphere.
Father Britto of SJS School, Baramulla, emphasized the significance of Christmas as a symbol of communal harmony, love, and compassion. “Christmas is a time to spread the message of peace and prosperity, and to come together as a community,” he said.
“We celebrate Christmas by singing carols and exchanging gifts, spreading joy and love to all, a sister said”
Despite the lack of snowfall in Baramulla town, the spirit of Christmas was palpable, with the community coming together to celebrate the occasion.
The celebrations at Holy Family Catholic Church, Saint Joseph, Baramulla, served as a testament to the region’s commitment to communal harmony and mutual respect.
