Environment Committee reviews Anchar Lake conservation, inspects SKIMS waste management

New Delhi, Jan 5: Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh Kavinder Gupta on Monday met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi and discussed key developmental initiatives and administrative matters concerning the Union Territory.
The meeting focused on the progress of ongoing projects and governance-related issues in Ladakh. The Prime Minister was briefed on infrastructure development, implementation of welfare initiatives and administrative challenges faced in the region.
During the interaction, Gupta presented the Prime Minister with a painting of Lord Buddha, symbolizing Ladakh’s rich cultural and spiritual heritage. The gesture was acknowledged as a reflection of the region’s civilizational identity and traditions.
Notably, both the Leh Apex Body and the Kargil Democratic Alliance have intensified their opposition, warning of a sustained agitation if their long-pending demands, including restoration of statehood and inclusion of Ladakh under the Sixth Schedule of the Constitution, are not addressed by the Centre.
