DC reviews progress of power projects in Ganderbal

Ganderbal, Jan 10: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ganderbal, Jatin Kishore, Saturday chaired a comprehensive review meeting to assess the progress and operational status of various power projects in District Ganderbal.
During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on the functioning of existing power projects, including actual power generation vis-à-vis installed capacity, daily and monthly generation trends, frequency and causes of breakdowns, Operation and Maintenance Status, availability of operational manpower, asset health conditions, and issues related to grid connectivity.
At the outset, officers from the Power Development Corporation (PDC), including representatives of Upper Sindh Hydel Project-I & II Kangan, Mini Hydro Project Rayil, and other concerned projects, briefed the chair through PowerPoint presentations on the operational performance, challenges, and proposed works of their respective projects.
The DC also reviewed the status of the upcoming 93 MW Multipurpose New Ganderbal Hydroelectric Project (NGHEP). The concerned officials apprised him of the current status of land acquisition, removal of encumbrances, clearances from various departments, and infrastructure developed so far.
The DC further reviewed functioning of USHP-I Sumbal HEP and USHP-II Kangan projects.
He sought updates on land acquisition, forest clearances, and other related issues. He assured the officials of full support from the district administration and stated that all genuine issues flagged during the meeting would be addressed on priority.
Among others the meeting was attended by Chief Engineer PDC, Superintending Engineer PDC, Chief Planning Officer, Executive Engineers, Assistant Executive Engineers, other officials and representatives of Small Hydro Power projects of the district.
